October is Cybersecurity Month!

As vehicles become increasingly connected, ensuring strong cybersecurity has never been more important. To be effective, legislative frameworks should be inclusive, transparent and proportionate, engaging all stakeholders in the automotive ecosystem – including independent operators, service providers, and consumers.
Cybersecurity should strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, not become a barrier for entry for legitimate business operators or a tool for market restriction. Provision of vehicle repair and maintenance services, supported by the use of vehicle data and replacement parts, should not be hampered by the introduction of cybersecurity measures. Balanced cybersecurity measures both safeguard digital integrity and ensure fair access to the vehicle data, fostering innovation and effective competition.
This month, we call for:
- Inclusive cybersecurity governance involving all stakeholders
- Fair and secure access to the vehicle, its data, functions and resources
- Protection of digital rights for all market players
By working together, we can create a secure, open and competitive mobility ecosystem.
