The Remote Service Supplier Community

The Remote Service Supplier Community

The Remote Service Supplier (RSS) Community brings together leading providers of remote[SG1]  automotive services across Europe. The Community’s members help workshops perform increasingly complex repair and maintenance operations through remote diagnostics, software programming, coding, calibration and technical support.

Hosted by FIGIEFA, the Community promotes awareness of the essential role remote service suppliers play in maintaining safe, efficient and competitive vehicle repair services across Europe.

What are Remote Service Suppliers?

Remote Service Suppliers support workshops by providing specialist technical expertise remotely, enabling them to carry out increasingly complex repair and maintenance operations on modern connected, electrified and software-defined vehicles. Services commonly include:
·         Remote diagnostics and troubleshooting
·         Software programming and updates
·         OEM-compliant technical support
·         Support across the aftermarket ecosystem

Why Remote Services Matter

Responding to Increasing Vehicle Complexity
Modern vehicles contain electronic control units, advanced driver assistance systems and growing amounts of software. Repair procedures that once required only mechanical expertise increasingly depend on specialist diagnostic tools, software access and technical know-how.

At the same time, workshops face rising investment costs for tools and training, while many struggle to recruit and retain specialised technicians. Remote services allow workshops to access expertise as needed rather than maintaining every capability internally.

Supporting Local Repair

By connecting workshops with specialist expertise, Remote Service Suppliers enable repairs to be completed locally and more efficiently. This reduces vehicle downtime and helps ensure that workshops of all sizes can continue servicing modern vehicles regardless of location.

Delivering Value Across the Ecosystem

Remote services benefit a wide range of stakeholders.

For workshops, they provide access to technical expertise and advanced repair capabilities. For vehicle owners and fleet operators, they help reduce downtime and accelerate repairs. For insurers and mobility providers, they contribute to faster vehicle turnaround and improved operational efficiency.

Remote services also help preserve competition in the aftermarket by enabling independent workshops to perform operations that increasingly depend on software, programming and vehicle data access.

Purpose

The RSS Community was established to provide a common voice for remote service suppliers and to promote greater understanding of their role in Europe's automotive aftermarket. The Community seeks to raise awareness of the value that remote services bring to workshops, vehicle owners, fleets and the wider mobility ecosystem.

The Community also supports dialogue with policymakers and industry stakeholders to ensure that workshops and service providers can continue accessing the information, tools, software functions and vehicle systems needed to repair and maintain modern vehicles.

Members are committed to promoting fair and effective access to OEM diagnostic tools, repair and maintenance information (RMI), software and coding functions. The Community also seeks to address challenges such as unequal access conditions between vehicle manufacturers, non-transparent fees, fragmented requirements across Member States and insufficient enforcement of existing legislation.

By supporting robust enforcement of existing rules and greater recognition of the role of Remote Service Suppliers, the Community aims to help maintain a competitive, innovative and safe aftermarket that enables independent workshops across Europe to continue serving vehicle owners effectively.

Jifeline Remote Diagnostics offers the automotive aftermarket a unique diagnostic concept. Dealer and garage companies are relieved of the burden of programming and coding vehicle electronics. We also support the workshop in diagnosing complex malfunctions. Via the Jifeline remote diagnostic interface, a remote connection is made to the car, which therefore does not need to leave the workshop.

Jifeline Remote Diagnostics stands for remote diagnosis, programming and coding. The system works on the basis of a helpdesk with diagnostic specialists, an internet connection, a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone and an OBD remote diagnostic interface. These components allow our remote diagnosis specialists to directly work with the mechanic in the workshop.
