FIGIEFA’s Position on the European Commission’s Initiative to Decarbonise Corporate Fleets
Last week, EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas hosted a High-Level Strategic Dialogue with stakeholders to discuss the Greening Corporate Fleets initiative.
In light of this crucial dialogue, FIGIEFA calls on the European Commission to ensure that the upcoming legislative proposal fully reflects the diversity of existing business models and operational realities within Europe’s automotive ecosystem.
To support a successful transition to cleaner fleets, FIGIEFA proposes five key recommendations:
- Prioritise flexible, market-driven measures over rigid ZEV mandates to account for diverse operational contexts.
- Accelerate investment in charging infrastructure and provide targeted financial support for deployment at scale.
- Enable the repairability of EVs through a clear regulatory framework to build both consumer and business trust.
- Conduct a thorough impact assessment, with a particular focus on the challenges for SMEs.
- Support technology neutrality to encourage innovation and diversify sustainable mobility solutions.
